Unfortunately, I depend on this function to screen my calls. As this is a home phone, I have no use for most of the special features. My major complaint is that there is no backlight on the 'caller ID' panel, which makes it impossible to see the name of the caller unless you have a bright light shining on it and you are VERY close to the phone. When I called Panasonic I was told this feature does not have a backlight. Disappointing.
I had no interest in the intercom feature, so haven't used that. The speaker is good. Unlike some telephones, the audio is very good.
Display could be back lit since phone is plugged to an AC adaptor. More direct access memories should be available
We in Germany can't get such a perfect 2 line phone over here and after the predecessor model, which lasted 19 years was destroyed by a heater beam, I had to buy the newer model and don't regret it. The setup is so easy per menue, so you don't miss the switches at all. I love the new ringer sound I choose already.
I installed Panasonic two line phones in my new home in 1996 and just now replaced them in July, 2009 because they were getting worn and beat up but still worked. These new Panasonics are a quality replacement with new features that I really like but I miss the 10 or 12 fast dial buttons on top of the old ones. These new ones have 3 but a phone book that you can program and dial but so far it's been too much work for 7 phones. These are great old standbys.
